A Post Medieval copper alloy token; a halfpenny issued by the Overseers of the Poor in Louth, Lincolnshire, dated 1671. The obverse displays a crowned rose with the date below and the reverse face is taken up entirely by the legend. Unusually for a token of this type it is lozenge-shaped. The token is complete but one of the corners is slightly bent. It has a deep brown patina with a small patch of coppery surface on the bent corner. A post medieval copper token: a halfpenny issued by the Overseers of the Poor in Louth, Lincolnshire, dated 1671. Unusually for a token of this kind it is lozenge-shaped. It is 18.5mm long, 17.9mm wide and 0.6mm thick. It weighs 1.08gm. Reference: Williamson, Trade Tokens Issued in the Seventeenth Century; Volume I (Bedfordshire -Lincolnshire), Lincolnshire number 181. A heavily corroded, post-Medieval, copper alloy 17th century token farthing  issued by Andrew Poole, an apothecary of Grantham in 1657. Williamson (Lincolnshire) 111 (page 456). The obverse carries the Apothecaries arms, surrounded by the legend ANDREW POOLE. The reverse has the letter P / A A arranged in a triad, surrounded by the legend OF GRANTHAM 1657. The token is 15.3mm in diameter and 0.4mm thick. It weighs 0.7g.  Reference: Williamson, volume 1, page 456, number 111. Compare LEIC-602A81.

A copper alloy 'Ship-penny' jetton. The obverse bears a ship with a stern castle on the right and flag bow on the left. This is the Nuremberg 'ship penny' derived from 15th century local issues. The 'four lis in a lozenge' reverse design was adopted by other French prototypes. This type is an anonymous issue, dating to 1490-1550AD. Although the inscriptions are illegible, it seems to be a 'small fictitious legend with no 'G' present above ship' type It measures 26.51mm diameter x 0.96mm, weighing 2.02g. For examples, see Mitchiner volume one, 1168-1186.
