A late Medieval or early Post-Medieval lead alloy groat sized Boy Bishop token dating from AD 1465 to 1555. The obverse carries a portrait of a boy, facing half right, wearing a mitre and with a crozier to his left. The obverse legend is largely indecipherable but the remaining portion reads [...]NCTVS [...] suggesting that it is one of the usual obverse legends, probably SANCTVS NICOLAVS ORA PRO NOBIS. The reverse has a long cross pattee with three pellets in each angle dividing two rows of legend in the style of Medieval groats. The reverse legend …

A worn and corroded late 16th-century lead-alloy post-medieval token depicting a double-headed eagle/crowned rose (North 2062; Mitchiner 4738ff.; Powell type 25). North (2006, 140) notes that such pieces were probably medalets rather than tokens as some appear to relate to Mary, Queen of Scots. These rare pieces are normally found in London, and were thought to be struck about 1574 (ibid., 140); Mitchiner (1988, 1653) has since revised the dates of the 'GOD SAVE' reverse to c. 1590 - c. 1603 AD. Further examples can be also found illustrated in Fletcher (2003, 49).

A counterfeit lead alloy shilling of George III (AD 1760-1820). The artefact is missing chips to the left of the bust and a substantial part of its right side. NARC-60DCF1 suggests that most counterfeit coins attributed to George III’s reign are dated 1760. It is also possible this was intended as a gaming piece similar to DUR-87EBCD on the database. The object would be heavier than a shilling and appears quite coarse however it lacks the plain reverse to similar to gaming pieces, hence the suggestion of counterfiet coin.

An incomplete lead alloy token, or possibly a commemorative medallion, of post medieval date, about AD 1800 - 1900. The shape is sub-circular with the outer perimeter between 3 and 7 o'clock missing. The edge is damaged, meaning the outer legend on both faces is illegible. One face has a legend across the field, but it is badly corroded with much of the surface missing. It is in at least three lines: [M...]ERS // [...] // 5 [...]. The letting is in Roman style capitals, in a seriffed font. A worn lead-alloy medieval token or 'medalet' of Elizabeth I, probably dating c. AD 1574. A post-medieval lead alloy circular token with the raised initials TC on both facees; the token is now a little bent. A flat area at 12 o'clock on both faces suggests a casting sprue has been trimmed off here. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally. They are difficult to date precisely, although those with initials are generally thought to be post-medieval in date (c.1500-1850).
