The find was reported to the police and a subsequent search of the site by a police officer and the Deputy Director of the Halifax Museum produced a further 139 coins and fragments of Roman pottery. -R.A.G. Carson, in NC, 1953, 140f., types, mints
533 coins in Bankfield Museum, Halifax, declared at an inquest to be of silver or silver alloy, along with the frags. of pot. As restored, the surviving part stands 7¾ in. high, with a diam. at the rim of about 7 in. The outbent rim, flattened on the inside, and the fabric - a hard, gritty dark grey ware, with some red patches resulting from uneven firing - indicate that the pot was of "Dales Ware", as described by J.P. Gillam, in Ant. J., XXI (1951), 154-64.
Examined, and pot drawn, 1958 (ASR)"
Carson gives RIC numbers but not mints - this has been left in summary form. 533 silver coins purchased by Halifax Museum and the 64 base metal coins and pot returned to the landowner.
