Robertson 2000, 8 no. 31:
""By the kindness of Mr. C. Phipps, F.L.A., Librarian and Curator of Worcester Public Library, Museum and Art Gallery, I have seen and can now publish a small but interesting group of coins, which, as he informs me, 'were found together in a small hoard
during a redevelopment excavation in Worcester' before February 1963. There are ten coins, of which nine are copies of Claudian prototypes: the tenth is a commemorative As of M. Agrippa."
There were 2 dup. and 8 Asses:
Dup. Asses
Agrippa 1
Claudius (copies) 2 7
2 8
The 9 Claudian copies were graded by Dr. C.H.V. Sutherland as follows:
Grade I I/II II II/III
Claudius 1(As) 1(dup.) 3(Asses) 1(dup.)
3(Asses)
"Details of condition are not easy to assess. The coins were heavily corroded; and, even after cleaning, it is sometimes hard to say if a coin, in its original condition, was itself worn or came from a worn die. The general impression, however, is that a fair degree of wear had been experienced, consistent with a circulation of perhaps fifteen years or so. Any such estimate, however, must be regarded as tentative..
It should be remembered that they could have been struck a substantial time after their prototypes had first been issued."
