Notes

Only summarised for coroner (by reign) and it is not clear which denominations were present - it is likely that there were more radiates among the denarii recorded here. A spreadsheet in C&M of the contents of the original find does not relate clearly to the original coroner's report, suggesting that the latter was preliminary only. Some images available for addenda. After initial 2004 find of c. 50 denarii, Dr. Andrew Rogerson of the Identification and Recording Service, accompanied by Erica Darch, visited the find spot and the remainder of the hoard was retrieved in situ. The base of a Romano-British greyware pot lay in situ underneath the mass of coins comprising the hoard; the vessel of which this was a part would originally have held the hoard. Some of the coins were concreted together, further evidence if any were needed, that the coins had been packed tightly together over a long period of time. Later visits to the site by the finders resulted in the recovery of a further 118 coins
