An incomplete Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy closed heavy duty thimble of 'beehive' type (c. 1400-c. 1550).
The sides are slightly curved and have ten turns of spiralling circular indentations. These spiral clockwise from the rim to the centre of the top. The rim is unthickened and has a cirumferential groove beneath the indentations. There are no marks relating to the manufacturing process.
It has a dull green patina and the break is old.
Height: 23.0mm; width: 21.4mm; thickness: 18.4mm. Weight: 9.93g.
