Copper alloy spoon fragment. An oval or lentoid-section narrow stem retaining the proximal part of a rounded or fig-shaped bowl with a short [c.5mm] V-shaped extension of the stem underneath it, the bowl probably beaten to achieve this form. It is now folded, flattened and missing part of one edge; the terminal of the stem is also lost. Copper alloy spoons were made in the early post-medieval period as the power of craft guilds to restrict their manufacture weakened. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1550-1650

Length: 54.3mm, Width: 31.3mm, Thickness (stem): 2.9mm, Weight: 7.78gms
