A complete copper alloy medieval buckle. It is pentagonal in shape, with four outer sides, each with inwards curving outer edges, and a longer, narrowed strap bar. There is a circular hole through each of the three corners of the outer edge, which contain in situ copper alloy rivets with bulbous heads. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded
It is similar to an example found at Meols (Griffiths et al. 2007, 103, pl.17, no.759) and an excavated parallel from Winchester, New Romney (Kent), which was found a mid-/late 13th century AD context (Hinton 1990, 515-6, fig.130, no.1129), although the form is likely to have been in use for a longer period.
