Unique ID: SF-BE0943

Object type certainty: Certain

A copper-alloy fragment of a Bronze Age socketed axe, dating to 1100-800 BC. It is trapezoidal in plan and the cross-section thins towards the wider end; which is the flattened worn blade. The most complete side of the fragment is slightly curved, ending in the flaring blade tip. The thicker end has part of the socket still visible but probably filled with melted metal. The surfaces are heavily worn.
The fragment can be part of a miscast axehead.
