A complete flint Awl of Mesolithic to Neolithic date (9000-2350 BC). The object is sub-spatulate in plan and concavo-convex in section. The dorsal surface is convex with three predominant negative scars and corresponding arrises. The left and right hand edges have a small amount of semi-abrupt retouch. It tapers to form a projecting distal spur. The proximal edge is blunted. There is a small amount of cortex retained along the mesal left hand edge and proximal right hand edge. The ventral surface is slightly concave with shallow ripples of percussion emanating from the proximal end. The lithic retains cortex and is therefore, is a secondary flake.
The flint is grey in colour. The cortex is light cream/brown.
