Iron padlock. A triangular lock case retaining a curved U-shaped hasp [thickness c.7mm] which is markedly narrower than the case, and engages with a flat-sided element of width 13mm which protrudes from the top of the case. It may be clasped or rotate between paired lugs at one of its ends. A narrow [width 8mm] vertical bar appears centrally on one side of the triangular case. A broader [18mm] and possibly tapered curving ridge appears in the equivalent position on the other side. The arises at the edge of the case are crisp, and the mass indicates good survival of a metal core. The finder kindly identifies this object by reference to Leahy and Lewis 2018, page 152, SF-E41A06, which is dated to the post-medieval period. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1800
