A complete copper-alloy signet type finger ring of Post-Medieval date, c. AD 1400 - 1600. The hoop of the finger ring is circular with a D-shaped section, expanding to an integral ovate bezel. The bezel bears an incised design of a hare running left. The hoop is undecorated.
The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. The finger ring is 24.4mm in diameter, 7.4mm wide, 1.8mm thick and weighs 4.1g.
Signet rings engraved with a merchant’s mark, a rebus, a heraldic badge or (most commonly) with an initial, are common finds and date to the 15th or 16th centuries.
