Cast copper alloy buckle with a sheet metal plate, D-shaped buckle with moulded decoration, offset narrowed bar and a central notch for the pin, long trapezoid buckle plate secured by three rivets, incised line around the edge, traces of gilding all over. The lower plate is significantly smaller that the front.
In London a buckle of this form was found in a context dated to 1270-1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 76, Fig. 46 No. 314)
