A silver shilling of William III (reigning from 1694 to 1702).
Obverse: Laurel crowned bust facing right. Underneath the bust is the letter ‘C’ indicating Chester mint.
The legend is partially worn and reads: ‘GVLIELMVS / III ‘
Reverse: Cruciform crowned shields (within which are a harp, one lion rampant, three lions passant and there fleur-de-lis).
At the centre is a central circle within which is lion of Nassau Four. The legend is worn and illegible.
The coin is dated 1696.
