Rolled core with only a few hard hammer flake removals from one side, made from a section of a larger nodule of grey flint with pale grey coarse inclusions with worn iron oxide stained cortex to one face, the flake scars are similarly patinated, the other face is unpatinated and thermally (frost) fractured, centred on a ovoid marine fossil of uncertain type. Lower Palaeolithic, 600,000 to 150,000 BC, likely to be of the earlier date given.
