Lead alloy shot / ball, of probable post medieval or early modern date (1600-1800 AD). Musket ball possibly from a smaller calibre weapon such as a pistol or carbine. The shot is spherical in shape with a smooth surface. The ball has not been fired. Casting seam and casting mould are visible. The colour of the ball is light to mid grey.
Musket balls are discussed in Courtney's "Small Arms Accessories of the Mid-Seventeenth Century" (1988) and on page 202 of "Material Culture in London in an Age of Transition" by Geoff Egan (2005).
