A complete but worn silver sixpence of the post-medieval period from the reign of Elizabeth I (AD1558-1603). The legend has been completely clipped away. The obverse is extremely worn and only the neck ruffle worn by Elizabeth can be made out.The date above the shield on the reverse is 1602, which is part of the third coinage of Elizabeth's reign.

Obverse inscription: Due to wear and clipping the inscription is illegible.

Reverse description: Square shield on long cross fourchee dividing the legend with the date 1602 above.
Reverse inscription: Due to wear and clipping the inscription is illegible. 

The bust is possibly intentionally defaced and/or rubbed.
