A cast copper alloy mount dating from the Post-medieval period, dating from the 17th century. The mount consists of an acorn shaped plate with two pointed integral lugs on the reverse. The mount is slightly convex in profile, and concave at the back, with cross hatched decoration on the lower half of the face, to suggest the acorn's cupule, and a knopped tip. The stem of the acorn bends sharply to one side at a right angle and terminates in a point.
For similar mounts on the PAS database see IOW-083024 and IOW-06FCB3. Mounts of a similar form and style have been published by Brian Read and have been dated from the seventeenth century (Read, 2001, p.29, nos. 331-334).
