A Post Medieval silver coin; shilling of Edward VI (AD 1547-1553) dating to the third period (AD 1550 - 1553), Tun initial mark dating from AD 1551 - 1553, mint of London. North (1991, 123) number 1937. Diameter 31.9mm ,thickness 0.8mm and weight 5.73g.

The obverse is worn with a three quarter facing crowned bust of the monarch facing a tudor rose to the left of the bust and the roman numerals XII to the right denoting the value with a legend in the outer band on the flan EDWARD VI D G AGL FRA Z HIB REX.

The reverse shows a cross Fourchee bisecting a square topped shield into four segments. Each segment has either three fleur de lys or three lions with mirror images diagonally opposite (royal arms) and a legend in a band around the flan POSVI DEV ADIVORTE MEV.
