A post Medieval copper alloy shoe/knee buckle dating to c. late17th - early 18th centur. The buckle is sub-oval and convex in shape and has a bevelled frame. It is D-shaped in cross-section. The bar and pin are missing. At the central point of the frame the outside edges curve inwards where the bar would have been attached to the frame. There are moulded bifid knops around the spindle holes. The reverse has a flat surface. The buckle frame has a dark brown patina with some remains of an iron residue.
The buckle is 32.2mm in length, 22mm in width, 3mm in thickness and weighs 5.31g
