Unique ID: BERK-F0C974

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Two interlocking, early Post Medieval mounts (AD1500-1600). Mount 1 has a kidney-shaped frame. On one side the frame has been cast to form two bulges that curve into the internal space and cast in two decorative bulges with a rounded projection at either end. It is D-shaped in cross-section. There are two prongs on the reverse; one part is broken off and the remainder is bent flat against the frame. The other is bent half-way along its length so that it is bent back on itself. Dimensions: length 27.22mm; width 23.64mm; thickness 8.11mm The second mount is shaped like a long waisted oval with a raised rib across the middle. There are two prongs on the reverse that are bent over so that the ends overlap and create a rectangular frame. The top prong has a small square-shaped notch cut into one side. The ends overlap to create a rectangular frame. The other mount is caught within this space. Dimensions: length 21.46mm; width 7.18mm; thickness 10.69mm; weight 6.52g
