A complete copper-alloy brooch or buckle pin of medieval date, c.AD 1350 - 1400. The pin is sub-rectangular in plan with a square section. One end is curved into an open loop where it would have fitted around the frame. From the loop the pin tapers to a worn rounded point. Three transverse ridges are present at the junction of the loop and pin proper.
The metal has a dark green patina and is worn. The pin is 47.9mm long, 4mm wide, 6mm thick and weighs 5.4g.
Similar pins have been recorded on the PAS database, for examples see: YORYM-C49DA5, NMGW-1F09BE, LIN-674A2C, NMS-038566 and YORYM-74FB37.
A similar pin is also illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (2002) p.115, fig.75, no.547 from a context which is dated through associated ceramics to circa AD 1350 - 1400 AD.
