Lead and iron unidentified object. A small plano-convex discoid lead counter with the embedded relict of a small [2.2mm square on one side, 3.8mm diameter on the other] tapered ferrous metal pin passing through it off-centre. Densely patinated. A plano-convex form is known for Roman game pieces, but the iron inclusion would have no clear purpose. The finder kindly suggests a function for the object as a weight; its mass might qualify this as an [overweight] quarter of an averdepois ounce. The condition, however, hints at an earlier date.
