An incomplete cast lead alloy uniface object, possibly a token or badge of probable post-medieval date, c. AD 1600-1800. The object appears to have originally been flat but is now bent with a c. 90 degree angle fold at the centre. It has one curved edge but the other edges appear clipped or broken, making the original shape difficult to determine, but it was likely sub-oval in plan. The face is decorated with c. 10 mm tall block capital letters which are abraded and distorted by the fold. These possibly read 'E D[...]' above 'M[...]M'. The metal's surface has a cream-coloured patina. There is no obvious attachment or suspension lug, but it is probable that a portion of the object is missing which held such a mechanism.
Length: 36 mm, width: 25 mm, thickness: 3.7 mm and weight: 31.5 g.
Notes:
Given the incomplete condition of the object, the identification as a token is tentative. Other possibilities include an inspection seal or part of a horn book.
