A clipped medieval silver penny of Henry VI (first reign, 1422-1461), annulet coinage, dating from 1422-1427.
Minted at York. As North (1991: 75) no. 1433, with lis by the bust and quatrefoil at centre of the reverse. Part of the coin is missing due to two distinct clips from the 9 o'clock to the 1 o'clock position, leaving no initial mark. There is a suggestion that the reverse was mis-struck, with a shadow pellet appearing in one quarter.
