A post medieval pierced silver penny of the Commonwealth of England (1649-1660) dating from 1649-1660.
No initial mark or date. Mint of London. As North (1991: 206), no. 2729. The pierced aperture is placed at the foot of the shield of St George, piercing through from the obverse to the reverse, possibly as an act of devaluation.
