An incomplete copper alloy brooch of uncertain type, of Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 200).
Less than 25% of the brooch is present, consisting only of the catch plate. The bow, wings, head, spring and pin are missing, presumed lost in antiquity.
The brooch fragment is sub triangular in plan, with an incomplete edge along one side. The opposite side has a rounded edge. The foot is incomplete.
It measures 37.0 mm in length, 4.5 mm wide and 12.0 mm thick. It weighs 3.6 g.
Triangular catch plates are found on several types of Roman brooches, including Polden Hill, Trumpet and T shaped brooches, so it is not possible to classify this brooch fragment to a specific type.
