Post Medieval copper alloy trade weight, 28mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The object has a dark green/brown patina and is in good condition. The object is circular with slightly outward tapering sides. There is a raised border, 3mm wide, on its upper surface and inside this it is stamped with a sword, ewer and royal cipher of Elizabeth I (a crown with EL underneath). The object is an offical trade weight approved by the city of london and dates to post 1590, this being the year the system was introduced.
