A flint core of probable Mesolithic date c.8000-4000BC.
Description: The core is very roughly conical.. The striking has very minor conchoidal fractures, which indicates use of soft hammer technology. The removals appear to be quite small and vary in size and direction There is a concave side which may relate to an area of lower quality flint with inclusions and faults which may be why the core was abandoned or broke away from a larger core. The flint is heavily mottled grey colour except for the patch of poorer quality white matrix..
