A fragment of a copper-alloy buckle plate of medieval circa 14th century date. The surviving fragment is rectangular in shape and measures 20mm in width and 10mm in length. It appears to have originally been a folded sheet plate but only part of the front face now survives. There is the remains of a rectangular pin slot, now folded over, and the plate is recessed to accomodate the missing frame. There are two parallel rivet holes through the attachment end, one of which has an in situ copper-alloy rivet through it. The front face of the fragment is decorated with a double border groove of zigzags and traces of gilding can be seen.
