An incomplete tinned copper alloy Roman brooch of Hod Hill type dating to 1st Century AD.
The bow has a lozengiform plate topped with a moulded ridge. The plates is decorated with a central longitudal moulded ridge down the central axis, flanked by a pair of sub rectangular moulded ribs, thinner at the top and flaring to the bow. The plate is flanked by a pair of slightly convex lateral knops with three moulded collars to the head. The bow is decorated with another transverse moulded ridge terminating in a pedestal foot knop, the reverse of which has the remains of the catchplate. White metal remains on the foot. Similar examples can be found in Hattatt (2000, p. 322, Fig 181, no:848). Other examples on the database include SUR-E9B073; and NLM-E97E58
