Lead spindle whorl. Cast plano-convex whorl with a central moulded aperture of diameter 9-10mm, Walton Rogers form A1. Shrinkage lines around the hole on the flat surface suggest the object was cast in an open mould. The spindle size may hint at an Anglo-Scandinavian date, though this object was reported along with a similar example with a smaller, and possibly earlier style of, spindle hole. Patinated. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 700-1000
