Rim sherd of a Medieval open vessel (cooking pot) probably dating to c. AD 1200 to 1400. The sherd has mid-orange-buff surfaces with a mid-grey reduced core and relatively fresh breaks. The fabric is micaceous and has common (15%) rounded quartz up to 1.5,mm and c. 5% angular, patinated poorly sorted chert (up to 1.5mm). Occasional more amorphous white quartz up to 2mm.
The rim is everted with an angled, flat, cut top edge slightly thickened on the outer side. It is too small to estimate the diameter and weighs 11.81g.
It is probably a Greensand Derived fabric, local to the Blackdown Hills (Allan et al 2011).
