Copper alloy mount. An oval pressed metal plate with a bordered scene depicted in naturalistic style: two cricketers in relaxed conversation by a five-barred gate. One figure sits on top of the gate; his companion leans against the gate post, and both hold a cricket bat of modern type. A recreational sporting context appears probable, though there is no evidence as to how this object was attached, or, indeed, to what. Now creased. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1870-1900
