An incomplete cast copper alloy asymmetrical D-shaped double frame buckle of medieval date (c. 1400 - 1450 AD).
The plain D-shaped outer loop is angled and shows a widened outer edge which appears oval in cross section. The sub rectangular central bar is much narrower than the outer edge and splits the loop into two section, where the first half of the loop is almost a third larger than the second half. The narrower and recessed inside edge of the frame is the same length as the central bar and appears oval in cross section. The reverse in undecorated. Egan and Pritchard (1991: 103, no. 472) is loosely similar in its irregular, asymmetrical appearance, and is dated to their phase 8, circa 1400-1450.
