A complete lead-alloy weight or spindle whorl of possible Iron Age to Roman date, c.50 BC - AD 410. The object is circular with a flat top and domed base and a central perforation running through it. All surfaces appear undecorated and are worn.
The metal has a mid-grey/white patina with a pitted surface. The object is 19.3mm in diameter, 12.9mm thick and weighs 25.6g. The perforation is 6.3mm in diameter suggesting an Iron Age to Roman date as per the thicker spindles of this period (Walton Rogers, 1997, p.1731).
