A fragment of an unidentified copper alloy artefact, possibly of Medieval or post-Medieval date. It is broadly D shaped in pan, with a short flange projecting along the straight edge, and curved in profile, making it C shaped in cross-section. The flange appears complete, but the other face is broken on all sides. It could have been tubular, hooked or U shaped when complete.
The inner face of the curved part carries a layer of lead or a lead alloy compound. There is no decoration and the outer surface displays a very rough, patchy, light green patina. The object is 27.3mm long, 16.7mm wide and 8.2mm thick. It weighs 10.1g.
