A heavily clipped and worn Penny of Henry VII (1485-1509) Sovereign type minted under Archbishop Rotherham, dated to AD 1489-1500 and minted in York (North 1991, pg 103, no 1729). Obverse: enthroned king facing forwards, two pillars to throne HENRICUS DI GRA REX ANG. Reverse: shield divided by a long cross, two keys below shield CIVITAS EBORACI
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Henry, by the Grace of God, King of England" and on the reverse "City of York."
