Copper alloy early Saxon small long brooch fragment. The fragment consists of the headplate and the upper part of the bow. The headplate has material eroded from the end and both sides. It is inset with a bordered square panel decorated with triangular stamps; the asymmetrical arrangement of which suggests that the design may be representational, although it is not clear what may be represented. The reverse of the headplate has the remnant of a single spring lug surrounded by iron corrosion product. D-section narrowing bow. Early Saxon date circa AD480-520.
