Side-plate and base-plate of a post-medieval copper alloy candle snuffer or wick trimmer, now separate but formerly held together by silvery solder. Decoration on the side-plate comprises engraved lines and punched dots and ring-and-dots and there is a single off-centre ring-and-dot on the base-plate. Many very similarly decorated examples have been recorded, e.g. HAMP-917D56, SOM-409575 and NMS-400F8A. Length 73.4mm. Mid 16th - mid 18th century.
