Copper alloy bolt fragment. A cast bolt with an expanded flat-topped and bevelled head, and with a round section shank of diameter 8.2mm, bent and sheared, presumably by a catastrophic failure in use. The force required to inflict this damage would be more likely to arise mechanically than through manual exertion, implying some use for the object in machinery and hence its relatively recent date.
