A sherd from the rim of a medieval coarseware (MCW) vessel, dating to the period AD 1150-1450. Probably from a large pot. The rim is upright, rectangular in cross-section with a flat upper surface. Only around 10% of the original rim survives and so the original diameter is unclear. The fabric is hard and coarse and is tempered with plentiful fine quartz sand (<1mm). The core, margins and surfaces are a buff colour. The breaks are heavily abraded.
