A cast copper-alloy hooked tag of Post-Medieval date. It has a rectangular plate with integral rectangular sewing lug at the upper edge, and integral hook at the base. The plate has four notches along each edge and a large central rectangular boss. This has a central rectangular projection decorated with a single vertical groove with multiple diagonal grooves to each side, almost resembling a foliate motif. At the base of the plate the integral hook has a semi-circular collar with dome-shaped boss on the front face. The hook itself is D-shaped in section and curves backwards to a pointed tip. The entire object measures 28.16mm in length, 12.84mm in width, 4.42mm in thickness, and 2.98g in weight.
This is a hooked tag of Post-Medieval date that finds close parallels in a number of examples published by Read (2008: nos. 294-297). These are placed by him in his Early Post-Medieval Class E Type 1 hooked tag group and dated to the Post-Medieval period, c.16th-17th centuries AD.
