Copper alloy, Post Medieval thimble with tapering sides and a slightly domed, flat top. The top and sides are covered with a continuous right hand spiral of very small, circular indentations apart from a plain band at the lower rim, which is undecorated. The smaller size and tiny indentations may indicate the thimble was used for finer sewing work (Holmes, Sewing Thimbles, Finds Research Group Data Sheet 9). There is no evidence of a makers mark. The rim bears evidence of a slight notch and there are some small perforations on the upper rim. The thimble has been flattened at the base. The thimble is 13.72mm in length, 19.97mm in width at the base and weighs 1.7g.
