A complete copper alloy domed thimble of the Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1400 to c. AD 1500. The thimble is circular with a plain circumferential band. There are two small splits in the rim. The surface has been decorated with a continuous left-hand spiral of drilled pits on the sides and crown leading to a plain tonsure. The inside is plain and undecorated. The thimble has a dark brown patina .
Reference: similar to example 99, p. 27 in Read, B. 2018, Metal Sewing-thimbles found in Britain.
