Two fragments of Medieval lead alloy ampullae.

1. Curved edge fragment of a basal-to-side part of the lower body, one face has traces of scallop shell (or purse) ridges whilst the other shows a curved raised border. The break along the inside edge reveals the twin walls that form the inner flask.

2. The second fragment is from the central body, with one side having most of a raised moulded letter W extant, the other has two raised crescents which probably form part of a larger missing design. The W is indicative of the shrine at Walsingham in Norfolk.

There are no matching fractures, but since these two fragments were found just a few metres apart they may well be from the same vessel.
