A crudely made biconical to globular lead alloy weight, possibly a medieval spindle whorl on the basis of size and shape. The object is undecorated and damaged. The central hole (around 6.4mm in diameter) is ragged and off-centre.
Notes:
Lead weights of this form were commonly used throughout the Medieval and Post-Medieval period and are therefore difficult to date accurately. The majority are typically dated broadly to c.1100-1500.
