An incomplete cast copper alloy disk brooch dating from the Roman period AD 100-199. It is missing a the pin to the reverse. The brooch is circular and has a central pellet with a design of six pellets circling this which are joined with convex raised lines. The outer rim of the brooch is also a raised band and there is patches of red enamel on the upper surface. On the reverse on one edge is the rounded square projection with a circular perforation where the pin would have attached. On the opposite edge there is the catchplate. This is rectangular in shape, with the outer edge curved to hold the now missing pin.
The brooch has a mid green patina. It weighs 4.01g and has a diameter of 21.4mm. An example can be found in Hattatt, 2000, pg 344, fig 203 No.118.
