A flint blade of Neolithic date (4000 - 2300 BC), possibly early Neolithic (4000-3500 BC). It is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-trapezoidal in section with a double dorsal ridge. The blade is incomplete and has two clean transverse breaks, with both the distal and proximal ends of the blade missing. It is made from a grey flint with a white to pale brown outer layer due to patination. At the broken ends the thickness of this patina (<1mm) can be clearly seen encapsulating the inner flint.
No sign of the bulb of percussion. The ventral face has faint conchoidal ripples present along the full length of the blade. Half of one of the long edges on the dorsal side has conchoidal ripples and sign of retouch, while the other half is covered by cortex. The opposite edge might have some retouch, but the edge is slightly damaged.
Measurements: Length: 74.16 mm; Width: 18.74 mm to 23.28 mm; Thickness: 6.11 mm; Weight: 17.57 g.
