Unique ID: SUR-E29147

Object type certainty: Certain

An incomplete composite regimental badge from a late 19th century helmet or Glengarry cap of the York and Lancaster regiment. The badge is made from pressed copper alloy and is openwork; the design comprises a five petalled rose surrounded by a border with the legend YORK & LANCASTER and a pair of conjoined foliage sprays beneath. The badge would originally have had a smaller white metal rose fitting the central hole, as well as a separate crown and a backing plate, all now lost.
